Role of Biobanks in Translational Research

Abstract

In recent years there is growing attention to translational research. Increasing interest can be seen in translational research especially in the field of clinical research and routine medical practise. translational research could speed up the drug development processes and could decrease its cost significantly with use of biobank features. Any tool which could support the drug development and general translational research, is a very important step forward in drug development. Biobanking is a dynamically developing discipline what is being undertaken across a wide range of institutions, both public and private. The biobanks can become the faiciliators of translational research. To translate laboratory discoveries into patient care in the most expeditious way and to provide resources for high-throughput analysis of biospecimens. Still, this translation needs a log lasting preclinical and clinical research phases. The increasing number of biobanks has helped create networks across countries. These are developed in order to achieve sufficiently large numbers of samples relating to the same groups and same quality and standards. One of the part of this thesis is creating a model which can be show preclinical and basic clinical phase relationship and demonstrate how the biobanking is linked to this process. Furthermore, try to looking for new trends. The final goal is to put the acquired knowledge into practise so medical experts and patients gain usable benefit from it.
