Background: Increased bone turnover rates as well as vitamin D deficiency and insufficiency have been observed in HIV-infected individuals receiving tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF). There is a lack of data regarding the effects of TDF use on bone markers and vitamin D in HBV-infected individuals. Objectives: The aim of the present pilot study was to evaluate bone markers and vitamin D levels in HBV-infected patients with and without TDF therapy.
